Seal Sanctuary Success for Blyth

Blyth (Yellow Hattie 10) was rescued by the SPRA (Society for the Protection and Rehoming of Animals) on 20th October 2004 from Westward Ho. After a night in a veterinary hospital to stabilise his condition, Blyth was transported by the 2 local BDMLR Co-ordinators Dave Jarvis and Tim Bain to the National Seal Sanctuary at Gweek. Other than being malnourished, Blyth had few injuries and he was soon tucking into fish. Blyth was released at Gwithian just 4 months later on 14th February 2005. The top 2 photos of Blyth were taken at the Seal Sanctuary just before Christmas, when he looked fit and healthy. It was very exciting to see Blyth again, this time playing in the shallows of the haulout beach with a 'friend' on 6th February 2005. Looking, equally fit and healthy, he was easy to spot with his yellow hat tag clearly visible even from the cliff tops. Anyone lucky enough to see a seal released from the Sanctuary should report their sighting on 01326 221361.
