C-SMOG

C-SMOG stands for the

Cornwall Seal Monitoring and Observation Group.

C-SMOG is co-ordinated by Caroline Curtis. Members are volunteers who are willing and able to be called out to observe seals that have been reported as 'in need of assistance' to the National Seal Sanctuary at Gweek. Members receive training in assessing the seal's welfare and the situation it is in. This information is then reported back to the Sanctuary, where a decision is made as to whether a rescue is viable or not.

This seal was rescued in June 2004 as a result of C-SMOG activity.

If you live locally and are interested in joining this volunteer group, please contact the National Seal Sanctuary on 01326 221361.
